(The Hosting News) – CloudLinux, a Linux OS that improves the stability of Web hosting, and Site5, a leader in Web hosting for individuals and businesses, announced today an infrastructure partnership aimed at improving the stability of Site5 Web hosting.

As part of the partnership, Site5 will deploy CloudLinux on its hosting environment, migrating its CentOS 4.x servers to CloudLinux 5.x. The company has already switched its existing CentOS 5.x to CloudLinux, and already experienced an increase in stability on the servers with CloudLinux OS compared to CentOS.

CloudLinux’s LVE kernel technology limits the amount of available resources including CPU, memory. Comparable to a container-type virtualization technology, but with nearly no overhead, CloudLinux’s allows full control of resources per account. This ensures that each account on the shared server gets fair and adequate allocation of resources and prevents a single account from taking down a server in the event of a resource spike.

“CloudLinux fully understands that hosting providers aim to deliver the most reliable, secure and high-quality performance to their clients,” said CloudLinux Founder and CEO Igor Seletskiy. “Our time-tested technology helps hosting service providers like Site5 distinguish their services from their competition and deliver a higher level of service to their clients through increased stability and reliability.”

With its primary goal of providing reliable Web hosting services to individuals and businesses, Site5 is a natural partner for CloudLinux, which has a long track-record of delivering stability and uptime for Web hosting companies.

Site5 offers a wide range of hosting services, including shared, reseller, VPS, dedicated, and cloud hosting. Based on a hosting philosophy that emphasizes performance through the most updated hardware platforms, a low ratio of customers to servers, and quality support, Site5 has grown substantially in its more than decade-long history.

“We’re very impressed with the level of control offered by the CloudLinux technology.” says Site5 CTO Vince Stratful. “Being able to provide specific resource limits on an account by account basis, and having those enforced by the kernel is a real step forward for webhosting providers. Knowing for certain that a single website – even if featured on Slashdot or Reddit – can’t bring down the whole server really lets us relax and concentrate on our service levels and bringing new products to market.”
